Upload SIM/Mobile contacts to GMAIL Account

Hi,
This often happens that we have lost all our contacts from our SIM Card/Phone.
I always wondered is there any online place where I can upload my contacts and re load them back to my phone/SIM whenever needed?
So I have tried to Some how upload all my contacts to GMAIL (May work for other Client also like yahoomail)....

We have Two Scenarios :

1. Phone to GMAIL (for both GSM & CDMA)
2. GMAIL to Phone

1. Phone to GMAIL

For GSM

I will explain considering the example of my Nokia 5300 XPressMusic Phone.
a. Copy all contacts from SIM to Phone (as most of pc suits have access to only phone memory not SIM)
b. Install (if required) and Start PC Suit supplied with your phone or if you dont have the same, download it from your Phone manufacturer website.

c. Connect Phone to PC suit.

d. Go to contacts in PC suit. this will show you all the contacts stored on the phone's memory.

e. 'Select All'

f. From file menu option go to 'Export' and save as 'CSV' format with name 'MyContacts' (Ex.) .

g. Sign in to your GMAIL account and go to Contacts.

h. From top right corner click on 'Import'.

i. Select the Check box 'Also add these imported contacts to: ' let the 'NewGroup' be selected, the GMAIL will ask you to name the Group , always give some name (Ex. MyPhoneContacts ) otherwise all the contacts will me saved in common contact list.
j. Click on 'Choose file' and point to the saved 'MyContacts.csv' (we done in step 'f').

All the contacts will be saved in the Group 'MyPhoneContacts' ..... :)

For CDMA

This may happen that you dont have the PC suit or even the data cable supplied with your CDMA phone,as in my case.So all we have to do is just insert your CDMA SIM in to a SIM card reader or any GSM phone (5300 as in my case). And follow the steps as in 'For GSM' above.Because GSM phones can detect the Phone book contacts from CDMA SIM card but we cant make calls.

2. GMAIL to Phone

a. Sign in to your GMAIL account and go to Contacts.

b. From top right corner click on 'Export' and save it on your PC.

c. Select 'MyPhoneContacts' group and select 'Outlook CSV format (for importing into Outlook or another application) '. As this is the most general format that worked for my case, you can try other ones also.

d. Start PC Suit Connect Phone to PC suit.

e. Go to contacts in PC suit.

f. Click on 'Import' from 'File' menu option and point the Downloaded MyPhoneContacts.csv file.

all contacts will be copied to your phone's memory.
Also,in future when your phonebook gets updated by adding or deleting a contact, just repeat the above process for 'Phone to GMAIL' and select the same group (MyPhoneContacts) for updated list, the GMAIL will merge the new with the previous one.
